The Season of Giving

We are so excited to announce this activity! This Saturday December 11 we will be learning how to make the cutest and very easy Christmas gifts. This past Sunday Kelli Cooper taught a wonderful lesson on trying  to focus more on giving and not recieving. Also, to think about the giver and what it may mean to them to help those in need. So we encourage all who can to attend so you can give these cute gifts away to the girls  you visit teach, a neighbor, an old friend, or someone you know needs an extra lift in spirits this time of year. We will be hearing from Cara Hafen for about 10-15 minutes and then soup and breadsticks will be served! If  you would like to bring a soup to share with everyone  it would be greatly appreciated! We can't wait to see you there!

Fall Activity

                          

We had so much fun at our Relief Society Fall activity last Saturday! We made  really cute  "FALL "  and "BOO" banners and door hangers. It is fun to get to know the girls you sit next  to and be able to laugh and talk about things you have in common. It is such an easy way to make new friends! We had a wonderful lesson by Sarah Roberts and  amazing  chili, white chicken chili, cornbread, and cookies. A BIG THANKS to Hailee Hunter and  her committee for all the work she put into the activity. She is so talented and has so many ideas for more activities to come! Lunch and Craft Day!

The  Relief  Society would like to announce the first official Fall "Meeting!"  {activity, class, whatever you want to call it}

The activities committee got  together today to make the samples for the cute crafts we will be making and  they are all so fun. You can make a banner that says, "FALL" or "BOO". Or you can make these cute  little door hangers, "FALL",  or "BOO". They are simple  yet so  cute and  can  make  your  house  festive and  ready  for the holidays. It  is also a great time to get  to know all the other sisters in the ward since there are so many new faces.  Please come and invite  a friend or the girls you visit  teach! You  don't want  to miss out!

Ward Campout

Don't forget about the ward campout this weekend! It will be at the bishop's cabin in Ashton and it's going to be so much fun! A group will be meeting in the church parking lot on Friday at 6 pm, so meet there to caravan up! Dinner will be served at 7 pm, and Brother Larry Keel will be taking care of the main dish, so be prepared to be fed well! After dinner, there will be a bonfire, fireside, and a movie. And remember...if you can't stay overnight, just head up for the evening! It will be a really fun ward activity!

Wednesday's activity

Here's a reminder for Wednesday night's activity at 7 p.m. in the RS room:

Show and tell - tell us how you and your husband met (briefly) and bring a few (3 at most) wedding photos to share with the sisters.

We'll have a small thought on eternal marriage and treats of course!

Photography Night Follow-Up!

Miriam taught us some awesome basics about photography! (They obviously didn't get used in the taking of these pictures...)

Miriam taught us things like how on earth to use our cameras! Most of us barely used any features other than click a picture or take a video.

She talked about lighting and "leading lines" (which was just fascinating!). She also said if you take a picture of someone looking a certain direction, you should include some space in the direction the person is looking (also such a common-sense thing to do!).

Miriam taught us more than that and took everyone outside to practice some of what she showed and explained to us. THANK YOU, MIRIAM!!

Visiting Teaching Reminder

Can you believe it's already May 21? I know I can't! Most of you received your new visiting teaching assignment at Church two weeks ago, so be sure to contact your companion and get your visiting teaching done since there are only ten more days before the end of the month! Stake Conference

Happy Tuesday, girls! Just a reminder that this weekend is our stake conference, and it's going to be so good! The adult session is Saturday night at 7 pm in our chapel, then the Sunday morning session is at 10 am in our chapel. Try to be seated by 9:30 am, though, so you're not stuck in the back of the cultural hall on the hard chairs! Our meeting will actually be a broadcast from one of the members of the Twelve Apostles, so be sure to be there! We're excited to see you at stake conference!

Bring a brunch dish or treat to share, if you can, but come no matter what!

We'll eat, play games, but mostly just socialize. :)

General Conference

Happy Friday! Just a reminder that this weekend is General Conference, so there will be no regular Sunday meetings. General Conference will be from 10 am to 12 pm, then from 2 pm to 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday. You can watch it on ABC Channel 8 or at the Taylor Chapel. Also, be sure to encourage your husbands to attend the General Priesthood meeting on Saturday night. It will be broadcast to our chapel at 6 pm. And if you're traveling this weekend, be sure to drive safely on the snowy roads! Enjoy General Conference, girls! I'm so excited to hear what our leaders have to say to us!

Happy Birthday, Relief Society!

We celebrated the 168th birthday of Relief Society with cake, crowns and a guest speaker, Sis. Murri.


Sis. Murri spoke to us about special experiences she's had with Relief Society and bore testimony on what Relief Society means to her. Thanks, Sis. Murri!

Afterward, we made cute crowns to remind us of our royal heritage and enjoyed cake and ice cream. A special thanks to Bree Schill for the yummy cake and ice cream and for the materials to make the crowns! Also to Noelle Murray for the cute decorations!

Baby Shower!

For those of you that made it to the baby shower should tell us how it went! I was out of town and so sad that I missed it, but I hear it was lots of fun! The food looks good too!

A VERY special thanks to Sarah Roberts for putting it all together and for Breeana Shill for making the cute decorations! And thanks to all who came and supported the activity and all the pregnant girls due soon in our Relief Society. We can't wait to see all you pregnant girls become mothers and to see all the cute babies!

Baby Shower!

Everyone (even if you're not pregnant!) come for a baby shower for all the girls who will "pop" this year! Bring something for our potluck brunch, play games, and have fun celebrating all the sweet new babies!

Decorative Wood Blocks

We are so excited about these wood blocks because we are getting everything for such a great price! We have changed the price to $1 a block!!! :) That is an amazing deal. So, if you wanted to get all 3 its only $3! ( you can get more than 3 if you'd like). Normally for 3 blocks such as these at a  craft store would be at least $10 for 3.

Since the sign up sheets didn't get all the way around the room yesterday we wanted everyone to still get a chance to order what they'd like to make. We will be ordering the words by Friday the 5th.

PLEASE leave a comment letting us know what word(s) you would like and what color. They come in cream or black. If it helps you choose, the paint colors are black, brown, and cream.

Family History Night!

We'll be having a Family History class tonight, February 25 at 7 pm at Noelle Murray's house. Remember to bring your laptop (if you don't have one, we can share), your member number (on your temple recommend), and your confirmation date. It will be so fun to learn how to use the new family history website and how to find our ancestors!

Beauty Night

Beauty Night turned out wonderful! It was fun to learn new tips from one another. Pamwent to beauty school in France so she taught us how to do French manicures (thought they DID NOT come from France) and she did Sarah's makeup... which looked beautiful!

Tiffany brought her cousin to our activity and here is Pam doing their nails.

Little did we know that Breeana is a makeup artist in the making... of beautiful eyebrows! She did almost all of our eyebrows. She taught us what shape works for our face, how to shape them, and how to draw them in (if needed). It is amazing how just a little tweeking and filling in can do to your face!

Lindsey painted her toenails and my daughter's (Emrie). Thanks... even though she rubbed them off the next minute!

Meeting With Elder Quentin L. Cook

I just wanted to share a few thoughts that Elder Cook shared in a special meeting that he held with all the Relief Society presidents and Elders Quorum presidents yesterday. It was a very casual and special meeting where he allowed us to ask questions, then answered them. A question was asked on how we can unite our Relief Societies and Elder Cook emphasized the importance of activities. We have a wonderful activities committee who work so hard to provide us with great activities that are fun and also uplifting. I would encourage each of you to attend our activities. Not only will you come away spiritually uplifted, but you'll also have the opportunity to become familiar with the other sisters in our ward. I'm very thankful for our activities committee who work so hard and give us great activities.

I'm also thankful that we had the opportunity to meet with Elder Cook and hear his thoughts in our Sunday meeting today. I love that he emphasized the importance of religious observance in our homes. Having weekly Family Home Evening or family prayer or scripture study may not be the easiest thing to do right now while we're so busy with school and work and young families. but we will be blessed if we make the effort. I know that I feel renewed motivation to be better in my own family with our religious observance.

Pillowcases!

It really was so simple. This was one of the first times Liz had sewn and she picked it up really fast. :)
